Since the release of their self-titled debut album in April 2011, GoodLuck have taken the charts by storm as the explosive electro-swing act, which claimed the number one position in chart-topping singles off a debut album in the history of South African Music.
With six number one hits; including Taking it Easy, Harlem, Hop on Hop off, four international tours and over 350 live shows already behind their name, GoodLuck are making waves.
Rubber Duc is an independent, fresh, four-piece band, made up of Nick Jordaan (Lead vocals, acoustic guitar, hi-hat), Brendan Campbell (Lead guitar, kick drum, backing vocals), Sheldon Sham (Saxophone, crash, tambourine, backing vocals) and Amiel Gopal (Bass, snare drum, backing vocals).
Their unique “folk-swing-hop” sound immediately gathered them a flock of followers and media attention – they’ve been called “Joburg’s hottest new band” and “the next big thing” – all of this in the first year of existence… Rubber Duc’s melodies are catchy and the lyrics are nostalgic, evocative and clever. Whether performing original material, “ducking up” covers, or poking fun at the world around us, their live performances guarantee a good time for all!
Musically trained from a young age, Kyle’s foundation has helped him forge a path through the Garage Band generation. Not afraid to step out of his comfort zone, his appreciation for each and every genre of music has given Kyle his unique and eclectic sound – a sound that one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else – and it is because of this that he has secured himself a spot as one of South Africa’s most successful internationally acclaimed dance music producers.
iScream & the chocolate stix
The band was formed in 2009 and began with its lead vocalists Bheki Dladla and Luke Viviers whom before forming the band had already established a name for themselves in the acting; modelling and fashion industries.
iScream & the Chocolate Stix have received acclaim from audiences they’ve entertained and have also received praise for the live performance aired on the popular breakfast show Expresso and daytime youth TV show Hectic Nine9.
“I just woke up one day and decided that I wanted to be a music producer even though I knew pretty much nothing about music or music production” says gifted singer/songwriter/producer TiMO ODV.
This spontaneous desire has taken TiMO on a journey over the past 4 years that has led him to master an impressive set of instruments, including the piano, guitar, drums, ukulele and melodica, alongside the development of his sublime vocal delivery and innate talent for songwriting. Hailing from Kempton Park on Gauteng’s East Rand and “Born and bred to be at peace with the sound of airplanes,” TiMO has always been destined to go places and his journey has recently accelerated with his signing to Universal Music in February 2015.
A solid reputation and loyal following has put him at the forefront of the South African dance scene, having already performed alongside global legends such as the current world number 1 DJ – Armin Van Buuren.
Dean Fuel’s distinctive musical style is versatile, and uniquely his own – fusing an intercontinental blend of minimal, funk, techno, house, electro and progressive – the FUEL adds that something special, igniting all dance floors and keeping them burning with his passion and infectious energy delivered through the turntables – ALL ATTITUDE!
Paul Almeida began his deejay career in the late 1980’s, quickly establishing himself as the top commercial AND Old Skool deejays in South Africa. His love for the 80’s sound elevated his passion for music and clubbing, playing in the top clubs in Johannesburg and around the country.
To date Paul has been involved in commercially 240 released albums including worldwide brands such as Ministry of Sound, South Africa’s number 1 dance compilation, the BOOOOM series. Paul was involved with 5fm for 6 years, contributing to shows hosted by Tich Mataz and Sasha Martinengo. Paul’s mixes were also featured on Just Plain Darren’s shows on Jacaranda and ECR (East Coast Radio). Paul also teamed up with the legendary South African music icon David Gresham to compile one of the biggest selling 80’s compilation series, “Back to the Eighties”
Simon Hill started his radio career down in the Cape back in 2008 after studying and majoring in radio journalism at Rhodes University. His love for sports initially saw him lean towards the more `active` side of radio broadcasting, which resulted in him doing sport on shows featuring the likes of Ryan O` Connor and John Maytham. However, a phone call from Darren Scott back in April 2009 changed all that. Soon Simon began writing and voicing numerous parodies and skits for Darren`s Just Plain Breakfast. One such skit was The Rugby Panel, which, over the years has endeared and alienated (mainly alienated) Simon to many.
These days you can hear Simon hosting The Sports Cage on Hot 91.9FM every Monday – Thursday at 7.30PM as well trying to find a role for himself on Joburg`s Hottest Breakfast.
